Charles asks…

What is the best woodland camping location within 300 miles of Los Angeles? ?

Must have lake.

Martin answers:

Someone asked a similar question a couple weeks ago and I’ll tell you the same thing I told them: Golden Trout Wilderness. Which is my answer to your question. It’s got plenty of lakes and plenty of backpackable trails where one can set up camp wherever one wishes, within reason, not to mention the scenery nor the golden trout. Chris asks…

Who will win the Camping World 300 Nationwide Race?

My pick is Tony Stewart, let me know who you think will win it.
Superdave that would be great, because of course it would still be a win for Toyota, and part two of the Toyota weekend sweep.

Truck-Todd Bodine, Toyota Tundra
Nationwide-Mike Wallace, Toyota Camry(I still have to go with Stewart which would also be a Camry win)
Daytona 500-Any Toyota, I want Stewart but any Toyota diver could win it.
I like that Will B, “let” Jr. win ain’t it the truth!!

Martin answers:

Smoke will win. He’s just keeping that 20 car warm for Joey Logano….. Can’t wait to see him run it later in the year.

Steven asks…

How long did it take to walk to camp 300 miles away when 1 mile equals 5280 feet and are walking 70 steps per?

per minute and one step is equal to 1.5 feet?

Martin answers:

Correct, you’d use distance = R*T
First, you need to get them all in the same unit (feet)
To see how many feet you need to go in all, you’d multiply 5280 by 300. (This is 1584000). Here’s your distance

So plugging them in, so far you have 1584000 = Rate * Time

Your rate is the 70, but the 70 is in “steps”, not “feet”. To get it into feet, you multiply 70 by 1.5 (because the problem says 1step=1.5feet)
This is 105

So now you have 1584000 = 105 X Time

Time is what you’re trying to figure out, so you’d need to divide the distance by the rate. You get 15085.714 (rounded to 3 decimals, if you need the whole number use a calculator)
That’s in minutes.. Obviously a huge number. To get it in hours you divide by 60. 241.528 hours. Or 10.476 days.
