Susan asks…
Is it legal to camp in the Colorado mountains?
Outside of the state and national parks.

Martin answers:
I don’t believe you need any permits or anything of that sort. As long as you are not on private property you should be able to camp anywhere you like. I’ve been camping all over the west and I’ve never ran into trouble. I usually try to find a place that others have camped at so that I’m not damaging plants or anything like that. I try to always remember the Leave No Trace motto when I’m in the outdoors, “Take only photos, leave only foot prints.”
I suggest you contact the Colorado State Forest Service. Have an idea of what area you’ll be wanting to camp in and just ask them if there are restrictions in that area.

Joseph asks…
does any one know of places where you can camp for free in colorado?
like pff athe highway in the mountains or outs side of a state park? anything realy

Martin answers:
There several ways to camp free in any state. Try National Forest and Bureau of Land management. Some you just have to get a few hundred feet off of the road and some you have to register to be able to camp there. I have found some small town will allow you to pitch a tent over night in their parks
