Lisa asks…

What are some good summer camps in Southern California?

I am talking about camps where you can stay over night. Not anything like dance camp, or acting camp, more like those camps you see in the movies where there are lakes, horse back riding etc. I am 13 years old and i really need help! Websites would be appreciated!!

Hi Alison,

There are a lot of camps like that in the Big Bear area. You can find the perfect match for you by visiting a site like http://www.mysummercamps.com/.

A really neat camp that you may find interesting is in running Springs (between Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead). It’s called Pali Adventures. Their website is http://www.paliadventures.com/.

Camp is awesome. I hope you have a great time.

What are some good lakes to tent camp at in southern or middle california?

I live near Los Angeles. My family and I usually go up to Lake Mohave in the summer but last time it was way too hot (like 115 in the day & 90 at night) and it is kind of a far drive for us. We water ski, fish, and tube. We also find our own personal cove to tent camp at so we can bring dogs and they won’t bother anyone. I just wanted to know if there are any other lakes that are like Lake Mohave here in California. Thanks and hope I’m not too specific

Martin answers:

Try Lake Nacimiento, up near Paso Robles. I’m just guessing, because it’s been a long time since I’ve been out that way..

Any good Southern California camping parks?

A couple of friends and I want to go camping Saturday night to Monday. We want to go to a secluded place where one has the ability to get lost(we won’t get lost). We also want trees, lots and lots of trees and rivers and a lake. Mountains and hills as well.

We want to be secluded enough to where we can be naked and people wouldn’t know. We’re not getting naked but you understand how much we like privacy.

And we’re also taking some ‘stuff’. You know. Will we get in trouble? Is it possible to do ‘stuff’ out there?

So to some up, is there any with/a

*lake
*mountains
*Hills
*lots of trees
*seclusion
*rivers
*open space

Martin answers:

Doing “stuff” that is illegal will certainly land you in the local jail. So because of that I wouldn’t recommend the time of day to you.

Good luck

Camping in Southern California?

Hello my friend and I would like to go camping somwhere near 92557. Anywhere that is 40 miles max away from that zip code. I was looking at campground they are all full except for the expensive ones. My friend told me we dont necessarily have to camp in a campground. Does anyone know any good places to camp? Preferably ones that might have some attractions like a lake or something. or somewhere hidden with a great scene. Thank you

Martin answers:

Dispersed camping is allowed in the San bernardino national forest there are areas near big bear lake off of mill creek rd and 2N10 forest rd that are called yellow post sites they have a fire ring and a picnic table. Bring your own every thing else as nothing is provided, no water no toilets. You will need to have the annual recreation pass $35. Or a daily pass $5. For each day you camp. It is first come first served.

Good luck and happy camping!
