Any gas lantern gets pistol hot, especially on top. Yes, you can severely burn yourself on them. Also be careful where you hang them, as the heat can cause a tent fire, etc if they are hung up with combustable materiel close overhead. Gas lanterns are a great piece of camping gear for sure, but they must be treated with care and respect to safely operate them. Be careful, and good camping!

Are gas lanterns safe to use in the same room as a budgie?
The type that burn butane gas and are used for camping or power cuts?
We have one we use if there are power cuts because they are brighter than battery lanterns. We haven’t had to use it yet since i had the budgie but would it be safe with the budgie if we needed to use it?

In a word — NO. Anything that emits fumes is NOT good for any bird. This goes for scented candles and OIL LAMPS. Get yourself a reliable battery-powered flashlight. Coleman lanterns (and their clones) put out fumes.
If the power goes out and you feel the need to use one of those portable pollution devices, put your bird in another room. Dark won’t hurt it.

i got engaged while camping at the kern river. and we found a great place to get married up there, it is outside right by the river and i want to have a small wedding but i want to make it camping themed. i was thinking some kind of camping lantern or something as the centerpiece and you help me with ideas!?

Potential difference is a fancy term for “voltage”.
So you are asking what is the voltage of a 9 volt battery. It is 9 volts. But only if the switch is turned on.
